Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shannon Meadows

"Road Wench – It’s a Tour, Not a Holiday"

Have you ever wanted to be a European tour manager? How does someone get into the industry, and what is their job really like? Those questions are answered in Shannon Meadows’ hilarious travel story “Road Wench - It’s a Tour, Not a Holiday” (354pp, paperback, $24.99).

Starting in the year 2000, Shannon led over fifty 18-35 coach tours of Europe. Come along for the ride as Shannon shares the inside story of her first season ‘on the road’.

“Road Wench” starts with an interrogation instead of an interview, takes her on a training trip boot camp, and includes the ups and downs of the tours Shannon led in her first season in short, sharp, entertaining chapters.

Along the way she meets backstabbers, nudists, kleptomaniacs and bed-hopping Casanovas. She resolves bitch-fights between supposed adults, looks for disappearing drivers and even spends the night in a Romanian psychiatric hospital on a gurney.

The author explains that she changed all names to protect the guilty – because the innocent were too boring to write about! It also gave her the freedom to be frank in her tell-all account.

“Road Wench” will appeal to anyone who has been on a tour and thought the tour manager had the best job in the world, and to those who want to take a virtual tour of Europe. Postscript: As some stories are somewhat risqué, it is recommended for adults only.

The Book Launch - Wow!

On Friday 8 October an elite crowd of intelligent, discerning and extremely good looking guests descended the steps to the Cellar Bar at the Oxford Hotel. Amidst the ambience of the original bricks, glasses clinked as wine and conversation flowed, while hanging above us shirts from places across Europe reminded us of our own travels.
Around 6.30pm Shannon Meadows introduced herself to the audience, then read a selection of material from the second chapter of Road Wench, before conversations resumed while book signings was undertaken.
The night was fabulous as were the guests, and a good time was had by all. As we used to say on tour - you guys rock! Thank you so much for being part of my special evening.
